American Flag Stickers Free With Donation to September 11th Fund
At Participating Shell and Texaco Stations
Goal to Raise $7 Million During Month of October
HOUSTON, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Equiva Services
LLC:
Participating Shell and Texaco stations nationwide are offering 3`` x 4.5'' flag
stickers in exchange for a donation to the September 11th fund in an effort to raise $7
million for the immediate and longer-term needs of victims and their families. The
distribution of flag stickers begins Oct. 5 and continues through Oct. 28 or while
supplies last.
Pledge spirit window cards will be posted at the stations for donations of $1.00 or
more. The goal is to raise $300 or more at each of the nearly 22,000 Shell and Texaco
stations to achieve the donation goal.
``We believe our loyal customers will come forward to display their national pride and
assist in the relief effort,'' said Mike Iribarren, general manager, marketing for the
Shell and Texaco brands. ``This is just one more way we can show our heartfelt caring for
those who lost loved ones on September 11.''
The September 11th Fund has been established to mobilize resources for urgent needs.
Because the United Way and The New York Community Trust are underwriting all
administrative costs, 100% of contributions made to The September 11th Fund will go to
support needed services in the New York City and Washington, D. C. areas affected by the
tragedy.
In separate announcements, the following donations have been made in support of the
relief effort:
- Shell Oil Company, $5 million,
- Texaco Inc., $5 million,
- Equilon Enterprises LLC, $500,000.
- Motiva Enterprises LLC raised over $600,000 for the American Red Cross relief effort
through a ``Pump Pennies'' promotion at Shell and Texaco stations in the Northeast in the
month of September. Participating Shell and Texaco stations in the state of New York
donated two cents for every gallon of gasoline sold between Sept. 13 and the end of the
month. Participating Shell and Texaco stations in the states of Massachusetts,
Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania donated one cent per
gallon sold during the period.
Headquartered in Houston, Equilon Enterprises LLC is a joint venture between Shell Oil
Company and Texaco. Motiva Enterprises LLC is a joint venture among Shell, Texaco, and
SRI. The companies refine and market Shell- and Texaco-branded products to nearly 22,000
